This is so scamsville

:stomp: OK........ GM gets billions from the Government (you and me) to stay afloat. Well they go bellyup anyway and file for reorganizational bankrupcy. NOW, they have come out and announced that they are considering one of three locations to build a NEW PLANT to build their new "super little" car that will supposedly keep them competitive. I bet you they ask for more of our money to build this factory.  :pullinghair:

Tell me, what is wrong, or why can't they use an existing plant to build this little "chebycooper" car?  And if they pull this off I bet Chrysler/Fiat (SP? but who gives a  :poopoke: how it's spelled?) will be next in line. And oh yeah, things aren't so peachy rosey over at Ford either, who knows when this bail out sh!t will stop?

You screw up your company, YOU fix it !

AND ANOTHER THING  :banghead: Why do people up to their eyelashes in debt think they deserve a break?  Did anyone force them into using plastic to buy buy buy? These adds telling you to call and a company will intercede for them and get their credit card debt greatly reduced. Why should a bank or any loan institution forgive any of your debt YOU created?  I realize the job market right now is very bad, unemployment is so high and people are loosing their homes etc. But buying big ticket items on credit cards with stupid high finance charges is...........well, stupid. If people can't budget for a 40 hour work week and stick with it they get and got to pay one way or the other.

Sorry for the rant, but generally speaking people today don't have a clue as to how to operate their own checkbook.  Classic point, my neighbor told me his nephew bounced a rather large check......................his monthly bank statement said he had X amount of dollars, it made no difference to him that his checkbook ledger showed he had much less. So this Einstein writes a check for nearly what the banks month ending statement showed. Hey dude, ever hear of out standing checks?  Get real   :roflsmiley:

Prediction:

Somewhere in the near future, the gov't will deem Ford to be in trouble and force them into bankruptcy.  Taking a controlling interest in them as well. Even though they insist they do not want a bail-out.  This administration is he!! bent on socializing the country.

I wish I had income tax return money coming! Own your own business = pay out the a$$ in taxes.  :walkaway: The government wants to help the economy and make more jobs? Give the businesses a tax break so they can hire employees.

Rant over!  :faint:

At last, somebody sees it as it is!!

This has been pi$$ing me off for a long time.

I screwed up 20 years ago and made a few bad decisions compounded by divorce which resulted in going bankrupt.  Well, nobody bailed me out then, and I lost it all.  I learned my lesson though, and have lived on what I earned ever since.  I am a teacher, so the money is OK, not great, but enough to live on.
I own nothing, no big fancy house, no new pickup, no boat, no vacation home, no toys to speak of (other than Cuda) I live in one of the most expensive housing markets in North America (a 60 year old house on a 30X120 foot lot averages $700,000) so I can't even afford to buy a house.  I pay off my credit card every month, Ihave no loans.

BUT, I owe nothing to anyone.

I wonder why people who have bought all sorts of stuff they can't afford simply because credit was easy feel entitled to the taxpayer bailing them out!!!???

The same can be said about the companies...free enterprise, capitalism and "the American Way" all are based on taking chances and either profiting or failing based on your ability to meet market demands and outdo your competitors.  Nowhere is it written that you can take huge wages, massive profits, rich benefit packages, great pensions and very gold golden handshakes when things are good, then expect the working guy's taxes to enable you to keep all this stuff when you failed to meet the market through greed arrogance and short-sightedness.

These companies are going to fail anyway, nobody has learned anything by being rescued and they are still uncompetitive on a global scale.  Let companies fail and use the bailout money to help people who are affected by these conditions stay fed, housed and healthy until things change.  Perhaps people can't keep all their "stuff", but that is the price they pay to live under our system...it is not socialism or communism, it it capitalism.

While I agree that small businesses are bing bent over,   tax returns for the average person is just a situation where uncle sam takes our money,  plays with our money and gives it back at the end of the year.

That can be prevented by having the right amount of taxes taken out to begin with.....ideally, you would owe nothing and recieve nothing at the end of the year.

People look at tax refunds as some sort of windfall....its really just your money that you would have had all along.  ::)

Oh, as far as TARP......while some companies could be held suspect in using TARP funds , some companies are paying them back already (with interest)......so dont buy into the rhetoric that the money is lost money.

It IS true that if the banking and big busnisses fail we would all be negatively affected....this is one area where "trickle down" works.....unfortunately only bad would be trickling down.

I am not syaing its right or wrong to bail anyone out, etc....I'm just saying that this is where we are as a community.

I personally think that GM is in a world of :poopoke:
They continue to try to pull the wool over everyones eyes, and get away with it. :villagers:
The press loves them, and they can do no wrong here. The title to the paper when GM filed for banckruptcy was "A Chance to get it right"
The title for Chrysler when they filed for bankruptcy - "Certain Doom for Chrysler"

Biased?

Sorry for the rant. The GM thing bugs me to no end. I have many friends who are employed there, and they tell me about soem of the ridiculous beurocracy that is inherit in the company. Just a shame. They make some good products, but just WAY too many...

It all comes down to personal responsibility. If more people would concern themselves with the big picture rather than the "what can I get for myself" mentality, I think things would be much different. In my area GM, Chrysler and the numerous suppliers are the main economic base for the region. It was once the steel factories followed by manufacturing but they are both pretty much dead now. I used to work for Delphi/GM until they filed for bankruptcy and I worked both sides of the fence and saw plenty of greed and bad decision making going on within the union and management both which is why I immediately jumped ship when they offered a buyout. I'm watching all of this closely as the outcome will affect a number of my family members and friends. I hate that it's all come to this but there was no alternative due to the actions of a few bad seeds.

It's a pretty basic principle that one will reap what they sow, whether it's a large international company or the guy buying crap he doesn't need nor can afford. Eventually there will be consequences to the actions made. That's my  :2cents: .
