From the factory ALL 1970-74 E Body's with disc brakes had the caliper hanging off the front.

I called Wilwood on this a while back and they said, back or front, it didn't really matter :pullinghair:
I plan on using the Wilwood system when I get to the brakes. Do the Wilwood calipers hang off the front or the back? :clueless:

I think you can do either, some brakes may be designed specifically for one way or the other but I think we've learned that the spindle itself does not care or interfere.

I got my new road racing brake kit last night. Dick from firm feel turned me onto a provider call all time racing. Turns out he lives one town over from me and runs his cuda and dart in vintage track events. The spindle is turned around for this kit, which also allows you to run a cooling kit. The kits even fits 15s

so I have a good amount of clearance with my 16s....

Hi, are you running 73 stock spindles? Are those 12" or 13" rotors? The calibers look awesome. Do you mind letting us know if they have a website?

Stock 73 spindles, a little beefier than the pre 73 ive been told,

I'll measure the rotors when I get them back. The hubs were dropped off at the machine shop this morning b/c my 3 inch wheel studs aren't perfectly straight and rubbed the hat a bit. If anyone is going to willow for fall fling I think he will be running in his cuda..    alltimeracing.com

Edit: rotors are 11 5/8 ...

Cop car rotor compared to Alltime rotor. New rotor is made in USA. Consistent casting , so no pulsating at race temps from inconsistent casting like off shore rotors. Also rotors are heat cycled already. Hats are forged AL , not cast.

This caliper uses 2 steel bridges that lock into each side. Steel is much stronger under high temps. Aluminum looses half its strength at about 350*F. Very little pad taper or brake fade compared to Wilwoods or OEM style calipers. OEM or floating type calipers dont release as efficiently as a fixed caliper. Many of the aftermarket calipers are copies of 1960's-70's designs which are outdated. This caliper was designed by someone who was involved in racing from the 1960's to present, including the Hurst/Airhart calipers used on the Trans Cudas and Challenger. Those calipers are outdated compared to these. Although there are plenty of cast calipers that are as bad or even worse than those Trans-Am Hurst/Airhart calipers.  Do your own homework. Most people dont road race or do track days and OEM disc brakes are fine for them.

Going back to caliper mounting... Front or back does't matter, the spindles are symmetrical but the thing to pay attention to is brake line routing.. Originally engineers try to have the brake line cross the steering axis because doing so cancels the steerings tendency to stretch the brake hose....  If you don't cross the axis the caliper moves toward & away from the mounting point on the frame causing the hose to flex in a tight U shape or stretch depending on which way you turn...  If you do cross the axis the hose just flexes....  Either way you still need to allow for suspension travel so in order to not over have an overly long hose it needs to cross the axis...

Taking a small break from the brakes while I wait for bearing grease to get here.. Test fit my race seat, sits so low but luckily as I bring the seat forward the height comes up ... Need to buy some spacers so the seat doesn't drag on the sliders... Pretty hard to slot in and out, hopefully it's easier when everything is bolted down....
