Rattling Noise
« on: June 16, 2009 - 03:36:55 PM »
4 Speed (833)....   When I release the clutch to engage in 1st or Reverse, there is a rattling noise (like shaking a can of spray paint). It only happens at the time of engagement, once in gear it goes away... It does not happen when releasing the pedal in to nuetral....    I cannot check the other gears until I register the vehicle...

What do you guys think?  Bearings??

could be rollers in the clutch , if it was tranny brgs I doubt it would shift very well

Sure it's not your throw out bearing?  Or your clutch linkage adjusted too deep, or the brass bushing in the crank worn out so it causes play in the input shaft?

I'm not sure if it's related to the clutch assembly or the tranny.. but I think it's in the transmission because if I engage the clutch (release the pedal) into nuetral I don't hear it....  I only hear it for a few seconds while the clutch is being engaged in to gear.....    All gears shift okay...  I should be registering the car within a few weeks, but for now I am just moving the car around the driveway.....  We shall see what happens..

if it is rattling as the clutch is released / engaged the throw out brg is under load & cannot rattle
