« on: March 21, 2009 - 08:51:35 AM »
Hey Folks!

Is there any way to verify the number of 1970 Cudas that rolled off the assembly line ahead of mine?? I do not have the Fender Tag in front of me, but from memory the date stamped in it is Aug 26th.....

Nope, no way to know.

The numbers from 100001 up to yours included 4-door Valiants, Dusters, Challengers & Barracuda models.

Also, the cars were not built sequentially by VIN number, so trying to determine what you are after is impossible unless a full set of build records surfaces.

Was August the first month for the E-bodies?   :clueless:

Assuming your Schedueled build date is August 26, 1969,  you must have a low VIN #.
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

August 1, 1969 was the first day of the new model year at Hamtramck for all models.

Now please keep in mind, that the tag was read by someone other than me. I can only report on what I am being told....and I see that its Aug 20th....

I will also bring up something again that I had mentioned a few years ago....

The tail panel appears to be original to the car, but sports the 3(three) holes for the "BARRACUDA" insignia.

Could this early production Cuda have gotten released without all of the "proper" badging from the factory?? Or could the Cuda badging on all tail panels happen AFTER the release of mine?? Would love to hear of someone elses car from Hamtramck that is prior to mine or shortly after....
