Just got a 1974 project car, but problem, the driveshaft is out and the tranny is not hooked up. why won't my rear end roll free? it rolls in reverse. Someone have ideas to get her to loosen up?

Welcome & congrats
sounds like the park brake is hanging up , you need to remove the brake drums & get the cables loosened up

If the sure grip is in good shape , then it is always hard to spin forward by hand and easy in reverse. It should be hard even with the drums off. Sounds normal
But check your brakes and cables for correct adjustments also
