Shock / Ride Quality?
« on: June 25, 2009 - 10:22:22 PM »
My Cuda's ride is pretty harsh.  As far as I know the torrsion bars are stock small block units and the rear springs are rearched stockers.

The front shocks are old monroes (they were on it when I got it in 91) and the rears are unknow but newer (I replaced them around 92.

Would new front shocks help with the ride quality, or do I need to look at something else?

Shocks control ride quality good ones will have a variable rate so they are not harsh or rough roads but stay stif  on smoother roads
 KYBS are harsh ,
never tried Konis or Eddys yet

The Eddy's are nice.  Konis are nice too, and rebuildable.

If your bottoming out the suspension travel, the shocks won't help much. Otherwise yes, it will help. Shock technology has advanced considerably in the last 17 years. Price wise from least to most expensive it goes like this; At the least, you might want to get some new gas charged monroes or gabriels. While basic, they are still a huge leap over regular old oil shocks. Ebrocks use a nice velocity sensitive system to manage movement. Plain red Konis are a good performance shock that will tolerate a fair range of spring rates. If you want to tinker with motion control, QA1 single adjustables can allow you to tailor the feel to what you like.
