Who wanted pics of a dealer installed a/c setup?
« on: December 29, 2008 - 06:02:34 PM »
I am about to go snap a few pics of a guys car. I dont know how much is installed or not but it will at least give a good idea as to where a dealership mechanic would put the holes for the lines and such. I will post pics here later tonight. I dont know that I would set up an underdash a/c like this one was. The holes were right behind the distributor on the firewall. It was hard to get good pics and he had the hose holes plugged with something. The car is a 72 Rallye 340/auto. There is literally nothing hooked up anymore, no hoses, nothing under the dash, nada. I dont know why they put the holes there but it seems silly when you have better access by putting them where the factory did. Anyway here are the photos someone wanted.

I need to bump this for roy. Not the best but it does show where the drainage holes were and where the lines were. Right behind the distributor oddly enough.

Back int the day they put the lines anywhere that was easy to get to.  I put in several dealer installed a/c systems.   I used the factory places when possible.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I also agree with Gordon. If I were doing a retrofit like the dealer did I would pretty much try to match the factory setup. I dont know why the dealership put those holes in that position but it just goes to show how weird things were done back then. You are welcome and I am sorry you did not see them when I first posted them, I forgot who had requested them.
