Will run for about a minute then stall out

Ibeen around for awahile, and am a decent shade tree mechanic:   I can not figure this one out

440, stock, with Mopar perf electornic distributor

Ran fine till I changed the 7mm spark plug wires out for 8mm accel wires. I did absolutley nothing else

Car will now start up, run about 30sec to a minute, then die.     It dies all of a sudden, not like a fuel starvation prob.  But I have checked fuel filter, fuel level, everything to include loose wires, loose distro wires and cap.    No wires loose, nothing out of place.

Again, All I did was change the spark plug wires from 7mm to 8mm.  The coil now seems VERY hot to the touch

Ive never experinced anything like this.   Any ideas?

As soon as it dies, pull the coil wire off at the cap and put it on the valve cover and crank it. Do you have spark? Could be the coil, pickup, ecu, ballast.....   Have to know if you have spark first.

I had the same problem with a van years ago.  still gave a spark ( not very powerfull though) and turned out to be a bad ecu.

Also check your ballast resistor. Sounds like that problem when they are going bad,   I just had a very simular thing as you. Ran fine, I changed the engine mount on the drivers side. I started it up to back out and it died after a couple of seconds. Started it again and it died. So I went and got another ballast out of my box and it started right up and ran even smoother. They have different resistant types I guess. Dutch could also be right, but usually the coil over heats first and does it, so it seems it would of taken a bit longer....
