NO FENDER TAG OR BUILDSHEET
« on: June 20, 2009 - 09:37:06 PM »
I am looking at buying a 70 cuda.  The car has the vin numbers in all the right places
but the car does not have a fender tag or build sheet.  How much does this effect
the price of car when it is restored.  The car has been parked for 25 years.  The
car is a 383 auto and it is triple black.

It cant be proven it was a trip black car now, or any option. For a resale, it affects it alot. Still a cool car

Im not the same guy but can you look mine up as well? I bought the car sight unseen and learned a valuable lesson from it because I am in the same boat, no tag or sheet. I found a buildsheet but its not to mine so the seats were changed. Im never going to sell it and the car is still nice but should've known better, anyway, here is my VIN:BH23N0B148698. Thanks in advance.

I am not aware of anything for that one, sorry.

Can you scan the sheet & email it to me? It was very common for broadcast sheets to be put in the wrong car at the factory. If the VIN is within 7000 numbers or so of yours it may have been in your since day one. I try to get them to the car they were intended for when I can.

If you buy this car the first rule is that the value is in the purchase not in the sale, what that means is if the said car is under 50k finished and the docs could ad lets say 5k and thats a real stretch and you buy the car for 10k but the car is actuallly worth 12.5k the spread is 2.500 at this point who cares .another point thats most important is the over all quality of the finished build thats were the money is in todays times .as for the build sheet i just finished a 2 year build on a vintage race car that we put in at least 200 hrs of reserch before we started ,now how does this relate to your car .al said you cant prove a car and thats just crap ,just document every thing including the striping of paint a good restorer can find even the chemical etch on the metal were a factory decal was .since the car sat for 25 years the door decal will be the proof of color it will show behind the decal ,even drill holes will help id options if missing .i can go on but i think you get my point research everything .and a black cars color will reflect a higher value than the missing docs .remember cool trumps pedigree.
