    what to look for in a 68 cuda body

    have found a 68 barn car that i will have to go look at, but would like to know, what exactly, other than your basic visuals, trouble spots are there with the 68/69's. seller says a front frame rail needs a cap? panels are suppose to be in great shape. don't know how long its been sitting at this point. car is an hour away so its not a big deal to drive over to see it. no pics yet.

    I know on the front section of the car you could look in the areas where the lower front fender bolts to the body and just under the lower hinge they seam to catch mud and rot out in that area.  Another place is in the plenum chamber or cowl section, look inside the vent for any signs of leaf litter and try stick your head under the dash to look around the vent boxes for cancer.  Then their is the usual places like you mentioned with wheel arches and so forth :2thumbs: depending on what body style it is will determine what rear rot it may or may not have :dunno: not too familiar with these model Barracuda's, just basing what i know about Darts as they have a similar front section that is shared with most A-body's :wave:

    I have a '68 Barracuda and there is a tendency to leak/rust at the lower corners of the back window. Hope it turns out to be a gem of a find!! Good luck! :2thumbs:

    Check up under the dash where the foam seals around the wiper pivots have a tendency leak and puddle water in the front footwells.The rear window channels can rot out and allow water to enter into the area between the rear seat and trunk pan.also the area around the rear taillights can have rot issues and check the trunk lid over real good. :2cents:hope this helps

    Those are 1967 tail lights, but it looks like '69 marker lights (rectangular) but the rear marker light is hard to make out from the picture. But the tail lights are definitely 1967 vintage and not '68 or '69.

    went and checked the car out today. not a bad body, but full of swiss cheese underneath. fronts rails rough. would make a good candidate for a pro street. oh well will keep looking.

    don't know if it was or not, sorry. it didn't matter to me. i am after a clean body. anything else would be a bonus, but i lost interest real quick with this one. if anyone has interest pm me and i will get the contact info. he was asking $5000.00 for it.
