How do you know if the transmission is numbers matching? I have a torqueflite on my 340 challenger but have not been able to find numbers.

on the rtight side high up on the belhousing there is a flat pad where the # is stamped

Just curious. Would a tranny still be considered "numbers matching" if the tailstock was swapped out? That had to be done on my car when it was converted from column to floor shift for the flanges. I believe the donor was from a '73. All opinions are welcome.

I don't think that would be an issue... anymore than a numbers block w different internals...
