***Side Window Channel Weatherstrip? ***
« on: July 08, 2009 - 10:58:54 PM »
I was by Moparals place today & was challenged to install his replacement side window weatherstrip that goes in the stainless channel on the leading edge of the glass..I failed.
  The pieces he has are soft rubber flocked  and a little too wide to go in the channel on his '70 Barracuda. My '73 Challenger has the same style channel which is a simple "H" when viewed from above and the rubber, while similar in appearance, is made of a harder non-flocked material.  Alan also has spare windows that have different style channels with additional stainless material which extends on the inside-side of the piece.
  Looking at Metro Moulded Parts site they list 3 different items (pictured below)

   So the questions are
1. Is there a year or model style difference for these channels?
2. Any definitive knowledge of which of these is correct for a specific year/channel?
3. What are your opinions of the weatherstrip you have used?
4. What technique did you use to install your weatherstrip?

These look most like my '73s
VS 7-A Rear Roll-Up Window Seals. Two pieces, 20" long. Replaces OEM #2782560-1.

Appears to be the same as above but with flocking added.
VS 7-A/FL Rear Roll-Up Window Seals. Two pieces, 20" long. Black, electrostatically flocked.

These look like what Alan has for replacements
VS 7-K Flocked Rear Roll-Up Quarter Window Seals.

Torred...you missed the last line on those Fits list for VS7A & VS7A/FL (these appear in a search for '70 Barracuda but not '70 Challenger)  See all vehicles...  You get the same list of models for each item including under 1970 is Barracuda but not Challenger

If I know my Mopars this has to be a miss print  A & E body would not be the same..Right?

1970

    * DODGE DART
    * PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA
    * PLYMOUTH DUSTER
    * PLYMOUTH VALIANT

*******************************************************************

But I also could have gone a little deeper, seems that under '73 you get a 4th option that appears to be the only option for '71-4

VS 7-M  Rear Roll-Up Quarter Window Seals.

1974 DODGE CHALLENGER
1974 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA
