Somethings got a hold on me
« on: July 14, 2009 - 08:39:57 AM »
Trying to remove axels from a '72 Challenger to change bearings and have run into a snag.
Side with adjuster slid out without any problem at all, the other side however will slide back and forth about 1/4" and acts and sounds like it's hitting something preventing it from comming out. It's a 489 rearend, suppose to be 323 suregrip(haven't yet taken 3rd member out to confirm).
What the heck could it be hitting? or maybe the bearing is rusted to the housing? :clueless:
How do I get it out ?

Its most likely just hitting the brake strut, just wiggle it out of the way.

I'm redoing the brakes so all brake parts have been removed, there is nothing left on the outside of the housing
