Hot dang, newbie test correct.
« on: July 08, 2009 - 09:01:46 PM »
Since 1st message posted, here goes.  I have a 70 Gran Coupe that I bought new in November of 1969.  I drove the car a little, but with Uncle Sams Marine Corp, wife, kids and other things that came along including work, I drove the car only 26,000 miles until I parked it for station wagons, trucks  and family cars.  I never even thought of selling the car as it was my first "new" auto.  About 3 years ago, I decided to fix up the car and drive it again to regain the old "youth".  What started out as changing the oil and new brakes has turned into a massive project, what was I thinking!! The car is now completely and I mean completey apart and on the Auto Twirler setting in my shop.  Although there was few miles and virtualy no rust, setting for 20 some years pretty well took care of brakes, exhaust, gas tank, brake lines,  etc.
After looking around on the internet, I decided to find a way to talk to people who share the same passion as I do, and, whala, here I am.  I built street rods for years and painted and repaired auto for more than 20 years to support my auto habit.  Since everything has changed so much in the years since I worked on cars, I hope I can get some tips and answers on the rebuild project.  There  seems to be one hell of a lot of parts and bolts on my car, really don't want to end up with extra parts when I'm done.  I'll be asking a lot of stuff in days, months and maybe years to come. (maybe not years, just "year"). :newbie:

Welcome!!  It is always great to see an original owner car show up.  I hope you took lots of pictures before you took the car apart.  The restore to original guys could probably get a ton of info from a 20k original car.  Post some pictures if you get a chance.

:clapping:  Welcome to the forum!  You found the right place to get answers to your ebody questions.  Only 26,000 miles?   Man, that's barely broken in!  What engine is in your '70?  It's nice to meet another original owner.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Ok, here goes, not sure how this works,  Greetings from Minnesota!  I have had my project car since '77 back with the AF active duty in Missouri!  Car was from Decatur GA.  71 RT is original still but all apart. 383 Mag AT/AC/ wide trim package.  Ready to get it finished now that I finally have time.  Look forward to figure out how to use this site.  Galen decoded it back in 2001.
I am looking for the left side wide trim (hood) that goes around the headlight.

Welcome also. It might be a good thing to start a new thread on your car which sounds great too! You can actually buy the wide side trim now from PGClassic.com if I am not mistaken. Not the long one that goes across the hood but the ones that attach to the fenders.  I will try to look up a site and put it up in here.

Thanks for info on the side trim!  I do have the original middle long piece already.  Price ($275) is about what I expected for the pair.   Will work on a profile/photo.

Damn it boy, :pullinghair:
Get the hell out of that uniform and get under your Mopar like Wesley Snipes did in one of those " let's save the world " movies. It worked for me! Now i own a bad ass mopar with a bad ass Hemi in it. I know. Recession. Blah-blah-blah-, but who cares. Recession is only affecting people who are recessed. You already own a mopar so you are way ahead.
Show us some picks because  :useless:
