under side pics
« on: July 26, 2009 - 04:57:23 PM »
I was looking for some of the pics people have here of the underside of the 71 Challenger so I can figure out the e-brake set up.  Most of the pics that I looked at a few months ago are now gone.
I ordered a set and I seem to be missing a connector from the pedal cable to the main long cable? Also I have no idea where the adjuster rod connects on the right side of the frame.(not the one on the center of the trans bracket)  So if anyone has some pic or the link to what ever page may have a pic that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

There were two kinds as you already know.

The center link type off of the trans cross member
The side to side type. Normally found on 70 E bodies.

These pics are from one of the members here. I hope he doesn't mind sharing.
He sent them to me when I was figuring mine out. His is the side to side type.

Thanks for the pics but now I am even more confused.  Now that I see where the adjuster rod goes I also noticed that I was not given that connector or nut with my kit.

What I got was the 2 equal length cables for the calipers, 2 connectors for those, 1 real long cable for hooking the caliper cables together to go to the front of the car. an adjuster rod as your pic shows and what I think is supposed to be the cable from the pedal to the first connection and a boomerang type of connector.  Now my crossmember has the hook on it but I guess all it does is hold the cable.  I suppose that I am short 2 mabey 3 parts for my kit to work.

So how does the pedal cable get hooked to the system?

Ok so I need the connector that goes from the adjusting rod to the cable and the nut for the rod. as seen in this pick on right hand side.

anyone know where to get just those?.  Why they were not in the kit I have no idea :clueless:

If your cross member has the hook then it has to be this type. These are going thru the frame connectors

Yeah I figure that the bottom pic is what I have /need.  But the Dodge assembly manual shows both hooks :clueless:.  But the kit I bought was this http://www.rtspecialties.net/proddetail.asp?prod=BSH7003

And I guess I'm still missing parts as always :banghead:
