OK body restored and painted... what next?
« on: July 23, 2009 - 02:46:18 PM »
Hello everybody,
My 'Cuda body is now fully restored and fresh painted... I have put all body bumpers and now I am wondering what is the next step...
I think it is firewall insulation and under dash frame and wiring mount. Is it right? Any pictures / suggestions?
Many many many thanks

personally I start with installing the fuel & brake lines ,then the fuel tank , rear suspension & diff & work my way forward , installing the engine trans , k frame & front suspension as 1 unit , then do glass, dash, wiring  & interior & trim last

I'm with Chrycho with the exception of installing the dash frame BEFORE the windshield. It's easier to get to the 4 bolts in the defrost vents with the glass out.  :2thumbs:

If a vinyl top is in the picture, that install can be put at or near the front of the reassembly process. Hold off on the drip rails until you are at the point of reinstalling the headliner

Good news SwissCuda

One thing I would do before glass and that is the headliner.  Pete

Just look at what would be hard to get to with putting all back together and put the hardest like the dash in first and not sure what else on the body you have so it is hard to come up with a plan.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I am doing the same-run away as fast as you can LOL
Insatll dash and headliner before glass.
install fuel tank before valance and do fuel lines, brake lines and all brake stuff.
Be prepared to have a very frusrating time, pick one job at a time and it is not too bad
Get a pal to help as it is better to have a second opinion and to cool you down from anger

I absolutly agree with the above , when I said install glass I meant side glass & hdw not the front & rear glass , absolutly install the headliner & dash Before the front & rear glass & install all the pedal etc before the dash goes in

Is it better to mount the dash on the dash frame with wiring and all stuff before installing it on the car?
Or just put the dash frame on the car and proceed with the rest?
