road runner disk brake conversion question
« on: July 29, 2009 - 11:25:50 AM »
It's not an cuda/challenger question, but I have a friend who just got a 69 roadrunner project that has drum brakes on it. the car came with a set of disk brakes in the trunk and he was told that they came off an imperial of some kind and would bolt on to the road runner. My question is any idea whether or not this is possible? The lower ball joint is definitely different but appears to bolt to the spindle in the same manner. The caliper is a single piston if it helps. Sorry i don't have any pictures.

I doubt it is off an Imperial but if the lower ball joint weill bolt to the spindle properly it should mount up with the upper ball joint Ok unless the hole is bigger in the spindle which it will be if it is an Imperial , you need to mount the calpiers on the front or rear depending where the brake line connects on the frame , usually the RR wuill have the brake line to the rear so the caliper may work best in front of the spindle , there are a # of different caipers with different types of hoses & without a pic I cannot tell which caliper you have , just make sure the bleed screw is at the top & the hose is usually coming off the bottom ot the cailper to clear the ball joint

according to my interchange book(hollander) the imperial is different,,my book shows an 66-69 charger, superbee, coronet, all dodge,,then 66-69belvedere,roadrunner,satellite,an gtx  all plymouth as the same,,does not show an imperial as anything but by itself,,doesnt show the imperial interchange with anything else,,this is just what my book shows
