71 challenger convertible; rebuilt 69 426 hemi
« on: November 28, 2007 - 09:01:33 PM »
71 Challenger convertible original FE5 red now painted hemi orange; white interior all done rear seats and door panels need installation, dash has one crack. white top is in good condition believed to be about 10 years old. Car was restored/repainted about 10  years ago. Paint is in driver condition, except rust bubbles on the sides around/below the doors (i'm told from being put on a hoist).

Car was an original 383 Canadian car. automatic/console with 3.91 suregrip in 8 3/4 rear end.

motor is a 69 hemi with a superbee VIN. Professionally rebuild. Engine guy told me he had to do not boring or porting. He says he doubts the engine had no more than 15K miles on it and just cleaned it out and replaced wear/gasket items. Engine has all of the original periphials carbs, valve covers, oil pan, exhuast manifolds, all have correct 69 Part numbers. Used the 69 hemi K member. Has correct PB booster and master cylinder.

Car need some minor assembly, trunk detail and rechromed bumpers put back on. Engine compartment is clean but would need minor detailing for show.

Basically car is solid an nothing is missing. Just need some minor assembly and a professional paint job.

WIW?

Thanks!

Alot of these cars now on the market with the convertibles and Hemis in them.  I have been seeing restored ones going for $80K maybe a little more.  Your car needing work and paint job I would say be worth "give or take" $60kish.   Maybe a little more in some places.  I would say a good $8,000 to 10,000 more dollars needs to be done on your car to bring it to the house.

Thanks gomango,

That is exactly what I was looking for. It is about where I thought it would be. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't fooling myself too much  :)

Do you guys think the market for cars like this is getting any better?

Thanks!

I would say a near perfect vert with Hemi might go for $80K-$100K if you find the right buyer.  If you're looking to sell, just set the price you want and see what kind of offers might come in.
