So, who rebuilds thermoquads in the MI area?
« on: August 18, 2009 - 02:17:57 AM »
Who in the metro detroit area knows how to rebuild these carbs correctly?  I have the kit.

Try to do it youself - it's quite easy...really! I had never rebuilt a carb, got the kit from NAPA and went through the instructions. Also shows step by step adjustments on all the arms and linkages. It runs great now too!

Thanks for the thumbs up  :2thumbs:
I think I'm letting the rebuild kit intimidate me.  The instructions that came with my kit only shows pictures of the adjustments.  It shows nothing about the tear down or reassembly of the carb.  I do have a service manual for the TQ which is very detailed.  So maybe I'll give it a try.

Obtain a spare thermoquad, practice disassembling/reassembling on that unit :working:

Hood,

There's a spare thermoquad in my neck of the woods. Check Craigslist. The guy- actually Craig, is asking 40$ if you do want the spare.
Carbs are not too difficult to rebuild, but I find it helps to have reference, or take pics during the teardown.
Go for it!
