Stalled project---till today.!!!!!
« on: August 29, 2009 - 11:01:25 PM »
I have really been in  a rut with trying to get my car painted.  I started this last summer but with some major setbacks I was only able to get it in primer and had to wait till this spring to start block sanding it. Now this summer I have been back at it.  I was hoping to haver it done by mid June for our local mopar show. Did'nt happen.     :stomp:    Then it was mid July for my birthday.  NOT!!!!   This is my first try at any body work so it is taking twice as long as I figured (twice the $ too).  Seems as if I have been at it all summer with not much progress and then after a couple of major screw ups on my part I had to walk away from it.  Have'nt touched it in a month.  Been hard to get remotivated so today to jump start myself I went to the paint supply store and got my paint. Nothing like a new gallon of FC7 for a little inspiration.         So now this week I will be catching up on some small items --- do some final block sanding and spray some color next weekend since it will be a three day weekend.   I am going to do the engine bay, trunk, jambs myself and see how they turn out and then see if I have enough confidence to try and shoot the exterior.  Anyway here's a couple of pics.  Stay tuned for more later.     :o

:woohoo: Nothing like a little push. What did the paint supplies cost you, if you don't mind asking?

Great to see someone attempting their own paint on the first try. Both my kids are in collision repair. My son will probably get into an introduction to engineering class next year but he is learning the basics. My daughter is in her second year and will actually get some good hands on experience this school year. Maybe I will attempt to paint my 70 Plum Challenger when the time is right with her help. Congrats on getting the supplies and taking in a second wind   :2thumbs:

I painted my engine bay. It was my first attempt at spraying. It wasn't perfect but it was not bad.  If you don't mind some runs.   :screwy:

Good Luck!!!!!!! :woohoo:

The paint and clear coat was $815.00.  It is going to be nice seeing some actual color on the car. The paint was shot when I bought the car .
