4-speed rod adjustment

Tranny keeps slipping out of reverse, but don't know what rod to adjust. There's 2 small rods and 1 large (closest to the transmission). Can someone tell me which one to adjust and which direction?

You should re adjust all three. There is a hole through the shifter to put a 1/4 dowel in to have it centered in neutral. But reverse only is the bar under neath that looks like a J or L  to some, and it is mounted on the body of the trans casing and not the shift fork cover. You need a 1/2 inch wrench forsure

Just to add a little bit to moparal's advice to adjust all three. Take all three shift rods off of the shifter, then stick in the 1/4" dowel (or in my case a 1/4"drill bit). Then go and reattach the rods. Then you will see which way you need to adjust them. Move the fitting until they just fit into the corresponding hole in the shifter.

Thanks for the advice guys, will definitely remember it.

What I actually found wrong was the reverse rod was loose at the tranny end. The rod was alittle loose and had pulled away from that slotted bolt that is coming out of the side of the transmission.

You're lucky you found that now.  A friends fell off the trans end while moving.  Dug into the street, bent the rod and shifter.
