The car listed for sale is a prime piece of Chrysler history. It is the 1974 Tooling Proof body for the Barracuda model. It is the only one known to exist. In fact, after talking to leading experts, NO other "tooling proof" cars are known to exist, none escaped the factory, they were all destroyed. The tooling proof body was the first assembled steel body for that model year. Thereafter it was used as a gauge to take measurements from in checking the alignment of body panels for production cars. The car is in original factory primer and is scribed by Chrysler engineers every 5" on both axis. At various intersections there are factory notations written with a black marker. The original owner worked for Chrysler during these years and bought the car thru SPEHARS PERFORMANCE of Royal Oaks MI. While he never painted the car, ( a miracle) he did fit it with a high performance 440 six pack engine and drivetrain. The car sits here with the rest of the parts in boxes and is 99% complete. The car has never been driven down the road......it has 0 miles. My preference is that the car would go to a museum or a collector of "survivor" type cars. I have documentation for the car. You are welcome to call and discuss the car at 574-342-0169 home or 574 342-7375 work. I do not expect there to be a lot of interest in this car because of what it is.....but to those of you that will investigate, do your homework, and want a new cornerstone for your collection, the car is seriously for sale at $75,000.
