I cycled thru another tank of fuel....

Still reads high for a long time and then drops fast to half/ 3/4...at 1/4 tank there is a dead spot and it goes to empty a few times.....by then I am ready to fill up I guess....

<sigh>  Would love it to work "right"....but   :banghead:  maybe I should cut bait......say it works "well enough".

I am learning that on thi car expecting something to work "perfect" is asking a bit much I guess....LOL

My first Challenger had the same issues/symptoms back in the 80's. Full to 1/2 tank went slow, then 50 miles later, I'm on "E". I think it's just a crappy design from day 1.

Do your other gauges (not the ammeter) work OK? The "going dead" issue could be the gauge voltage regulator. They get iffy after 35 years.
My name is Steve and I'm addicted to Challengers...

The other gauges work fine...the dead spot is ONLY at that one spot....probably a small dead spot in the sweep of the sending unit.

The voltage regulator is brand new.

I *do* have a strange issue with my aftermarket tach.....sometimes, seems like when I am cruising steady on the highway, it bounces a bit ...like  bad connection or something.  The tach is an old acrotach ...not a real expensive one to begin with....I guess I need to to check my connections again.   :banghead:

The mention of the voltage limiter reminded me that RTE is making a solid state limiter that eliminates the voltage irregularities. Mine works great.  :2thumbs:
