Hemi oil pan 6 QT Question
« on: September 02, 2009 - 10:30:10 AM »
Just purchased a 6 qt oil pan part# P5007807AB centre sump and matching 3/8 pick-up. stamped on pan # 971, it has baffles welded top of sump, did not expect for these baffles to be there. would a windage tray still be used here? what is the difference in the hemi pan 6 qt part # P4529884? any advantage over the other..thxs

the baffles & windage tray are used together , the baffles stop the oil sloshing away from the pick up tube during acceration & braking , the widage tray removes oil from the crank & keeps the windage from the crank from foaming or lifting the oil inside the pan
Not sure on the differences between the part #s , even Mopar doesn`t seem to know as the volume of that pan changes in the different catalogs from 5-6 qts

:2thumbs: i got a stock pan with no baffles in sump , another question had the new pan and stock pan side by side not much difference ,actually they look the same height, thought there would be a noticable difference being an extra capacity pan or is it? thxs again

the depth is maybe 1/2" different but the sump should be longer

I was looking on Mancini Racing site they advertise the same pan & part #  as a stock factory pan with baffles unlike mopar book advertise the same pan & part# but as a six qt pan , seems like a stock pan to me. Would I  be safer to order the hemi oil pan 6quart and the hemi pick-up 3/8 p4529565 match for that pan, would the hemi pick-up be the same pick-up for the 440??? and will also use a windage tray.  I will be using the 1/2 pick-up on another 440 build later. thxs

I would by the matched set from Mancini
the 440 were all 3/8 tube pick ups , the Hemis were all 1/2 "
the windage tray will interchange unless you stroke the engine
