Clearance Between Cam Sprocket & Cam Plate?
« on: September 04, 2009 - 05:11:34 PM »
Anyone know how much clearance there should be between the rear cam sprocket surface and the front of the cam plate on a small block?  I just mounted mine and after tightening the cam bolt with eccentric and washer on, I bet I have less than .004".  Seems like a tight fit but rotates fine.  I don't know what it should be.

As long as there is clearance you'll be just fine. You really dont want much clearance anyway. Otherwise the cam could "walk" front to back.
If I cant fix it, it's broke
