Like I do with most of the cars I've owned, I had my '66 Plymouth Fury VIP weighed today. Drove it over to a recycling place which charges only $5.00 to have your car weighed.
Here is the figure for the Plymouth and for other cars I have owned, past and present:
1966 Plymouth Fury VIP (383)--------- 4,330 lbs. with 1/4 tank of fuel
1969 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham----- 5,060 lbs
1976 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Limousine-- 6,040 lbs with floor jack in trunk
1995 Lincoln Town Car Signature------- Not weighed yet
Past cars:
1966 Dodge Dart GT V-8--------------- 3,180 lbs
1970 Cadillac Sedan de Ville------------ 4,920 lbs
1971 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham------ 5,060 lbs
My '66 Plymouth weighed almost exactly as the Car Life test car. Their test car was equipped similar to mine... 383-4 bbl, auto trans, A/C, power steering/brakes/windows. Their figure was 4,327 lbs, or 3 lbs less than mine!
A Motor Trend test of a '66 VIP, also with 383-4 bbl, had a listed curb weight of 4,240 lbs.
