With no broadcast sheet, your spare tire & wheel may offer a clue if it is the original?

Thanks again for the link Barry.  When I bought the car, I just grabbed any 14 inch tires that was around the garage. Thinking I would need some. There was a 70 rt/se in there and a 71 road runner along with other spare parts for everything laying around. That is how I got this 954 22 inch radiator in it now, thinking it was mine since it was a 4 spd radiator, but as I learned later, it is a big block radiator. The 71 road runner was a 383 4 speed car and the chally rt/se was an automatic.  I may never know, but When I posted the fendertag options a while back, it didnt get decoded as a special order car.  What ever wheels I put on the car now, I will be sure to say they are not the originals, since I don't know.

Well I did not want to trade my 14" for 15"  I already have my 15" and 14" but thought you might want the 14" off my car because they were original to the car and it is an M46 also.

Does it show up on your build sheet?  Where was your car built?  Have you actually checked the date codes on your rims?  What size 14's are they?  Your car was 20 years old when you got it and had already had lots of things done to it pryor to you getting it. And parts taken off of it.

No purple rims at all, I have all black. The one I used for a spare is mounted in the trunk.  Are the dates on the outside of the rim by the valve stem Barry?  I would most definatly go look on the spare tonight, and in the yard along the shed tomorrow.

I think so? I have not looked into wheel date codes yet.

1970 cars with dog-dish caps had body color wheels, so it sounds like you can rule those out at least.

I highly doubt my rims are 70 date code , my car had cheesy mags on it when I bought it & had to buy the Ralleys to replace the mags , I believe they are 14x5.5 , I do not remember a 14x6 being available but I could be wrong

Well when the original owner ordered my car he ordered ralleye rims but when they shipped it had dog dish on steel, the dealer claimed they ran out the day it came off the line, sounds like bull but even when a car was ordered with something it might not get shipped that way. I know this doesnt really help it just adds more confusion sorry, good luck figuring it out.

Sorry for the "no 14" steelies with disk brakes" misinformation. I must be thinking of all the later 70's 'Dobas and Chargers I had where the 14's would not fit on the front.

You are correct.  I tried putting 14" magnums on my 76 Charger and they wouldn't fit on the front.

That is still good info to pass along though.  Arn't those cars used for disc brake swaps?

I believe so.  I think the spindles/rotors are used.
