About 1100 AAR Cuda 4-speed cars were produced as you may know. This AAR is painted code FK5 known as Deep Burnt Orange Metallic. I purchased the car from Dave Mathews in Florida and he was told it came from Texas. When it was in Texas we were told it was painted white. The undercarriage would indicate that it has spent most of its life in the south. It appears to have had the driver quarter replaced and a patch in the trunk. To the best of my knowledge the car was restored in the late 80’s or early 90’s.
The engine in this car is a standard 340 block bored 40 over (non-T/A), with Edelbrock RPM heads. I replace the Holley 6-pack with new reproduction units. The intake manifold is the correct one with the Chrysler name and part number on it. The engine looks like an original T/A unit with the stock exhaust manifolds. I acquired an original T/A block after I built this engine if anyone is interested in it as an extra. This engine runs so well that I decided to leave it in. It’s balanced and runs out nicely through the 3.55 positive traction.
When we rebuilt the engine we also went through the transmission (non-numbers matching) replacing bearings, synchronizers and backed it up with a new McCloud clutch package and release bearing. The front suspension was removed from the car and blasted. It was reassembled using black polyurethane bushings. We replaced the power steering gear box and I still have the one we removed which goes with the car.
All VIN numbers match on the radiator support, firewall cowl, fender tag and the sticker on the door. I was never able to locate a build sheet and looked in the usual places. The interior is very nice with a Rally dash. At this time the clock and gas gauge are not reliable. It does have the consol between the buckets seats.
The price on this is very reasonable at $65,000.00. My E-Mail is
cudaforme@aol.com and I have more pictures and a video. I can be reached by phone at 419-878-5099 and located near Toledo Ohio. The only trade I would consider is an original 1971 Cuda Shaker no clones no projects.
