4-speed dripping oil

hi,can anyone tell me what is causing as well as how  to repair oil that is leaking at the reverse lever connection on the transmission,thanks

There is an 'o' ring on the shaft. Unfortunately you have to remove the guts of the tranny to replace it.  :-\

not nessisarily , the stock 4 speeds use an O ring on the shaft & every single piece of the tranny has to removed to replace it , but if it is a later OD version the O ring can be replaced by removing the lever & the nylon ring & the O ring is right behind the nylon

its a regular tranny.does the whole tranny literally have to come apart to replace oring.is there any sealants that may work, thanks

well it is basicall the first piece put into the tranny case so it will be the last piece to remove , you can leave all the gears on the main shaft though

maybe i dont understand or i didnt explain leak propperly. its dripping were the reverse lever on the side cover that has bolts and a gasket.does it still have to be taken all apart. i just want to make sure i understand,thanks again

The reverse lever is on the bottom of the side of the trans.  It is not on the side cover, the 2 levers on the side cover are 1/2 and 3/4.

The reverse lever is on the bottom of the side of the trans.  It is not on the side cover, the 2 levers on the side cover are 1/2 and 3/4.
Just to add to Changin Gears post, if it is leaking from the 1/2, 3/4, you don't have to tear down the whole tranny, just the cover.
