Drum Spindle Question
« on: September 30, 2009 - 05:01:35 PM »
Are Cuda/Challenger drum brake spindles the same as A-Body drum spindles?  Looks like A-bodies changed the size of the drum spindle in '73...would E-Bodies have already been the larger size?

No, the 70-72 B/E body drums have the smaller bearing than the large bolt pattern * 73-76 A-body drum spindle. Now a 73-74 front drum challenger might be the same. Except I don't know if you could get a 73-74 Challenger with front drum brakes??

*They still made 73-76 A-bodies with small bolt pattern for very light duty applications. And those will have smaller bearings.

No, I have discs, but looking at some of the Wilwood and AR Engineering kits, they are designed for the late A drum spindle.

True, but you can get the bearing spacer from Dr Diff with seals for around $50. Use some green Loctite for sleeves, and your in good shape.
