Alternator questions
« on: October 08, 2009 - 08:58:52 PM »
I'm coming to the realization that it will probably be easier to replace the wiring (http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges2.shtml) and buy a nw alternator than to figure out what is wrong with mine... anyway have some question about alternators...

This is for a '73 cuda with a 360 (not sure of the engine year)

1) All I'm really going to run extra is a radio/cd player (no a/c), is 60 amp enough or should I go 75 ?
2) I know this is subjective, but, any advantage to going with a one wire ?
3) Are the denso alternators (specifically http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/delialbrpk.html) one wire ?
4) Are desno pretty straight forward to install ?
5) If I don't go with the denso, what brand do you think is best ?

Also, regardless of which alternator I go with, is 10g wire good enough ? Or should I go with something bigger ?

Thanks !

unless you are installing a big amp etc, a stock alternator will be fine.

Ted is right...60A should be fine.

If you want a Denso, read this...

the Denso is internaly regulated but you still have to connect 2 extra wires to make it work
