Can My Power Steering Gearbox for my '70 Cuda be Adjusted?
« on: October 12, 2009 - 09:21:12 PM »
I've replaced everything but the gearbox in the front steering/suspension and things are still a little loose at 70 mph. (gotta keep on top of things to keep it pointed straight.)

I'm guessing that what I'm feeling is play in the gearbox.  Can the power steering box be adjusted to tighten things up?

If not, Where is the best place to buy a new power steering gearbox?  Is there a "quick ratio" gearbox that I could upgrade to?

Thanks,

there is a screw & lock nut ontop of the steering box , you can try adjusting that , make sure the wheels are straight when you do it or it may not steer over center , do not tighten it excessively , this is kind of a bandaid repair but will usually help , Steer & Gear or Firm feel can supply an upgrade box
