Replacing Accel Super Stock 8140C Coil
« on: October 07, 2009 - 08:32:28 PM »
I have replaced my Accel Super Stock 8140C 12 volt coil about a year ago and now the new one seems(same model) to be giving problems. Can anyone suiggest a alternate brand as replacement. I have a 340 engine. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the stock Mopar Performance coil, or are you running an MSD system?  I've never had any problems with mine.

try the MSD Vibration Blaster , I assume you are using a ballast

I am not sure if I am using a ballast to be honest. I started having trouble starting my car one day and I checked if I had fuel and spark and I didn't seem to have any spark. I changed the coil by just physically replacing the one I had and then it started right up no problem. Now it seems to be giving me the same problem again a year later. I also am not using an MSD system.

if you have a meter you can test the coil   If close it should be good

running without a ballast will significantly reduce the life of the coil
the MSD coil works without using MSD ignition

Not trying to be funny, but do you have one of these on the firewall near the wiper motor?

Thanks for the info fellas ....I bought the MSD vibration blaster and my car cranked right up.  I hope this last longer than the Accel coil.
