PAWs probably ignorant and yanking you around. I'd nicely ask for their supervisor or someone in tech. Diamond, J&E, SRP, TRW, CP, Ross, and Speed Pro all have some sort of forged shelf part number pistons for 360s of vaarious bore sizes.

Yeah but it tells me the type of company they are....you know, if that is their phone guy who do they employ in their machine shops? (supervisor sets the boring machine up and then lets  :newbie: run the boring drill in how many blocks before supervisor comes around to see how things are going, lol)

Ever hear of Indio Motor Machine, its a father and son machine shop doing lots of Mopar work. The son Brian Hafliger is on Speedtalk and For A Bodies Only for 5 years (ou812/IMM ) I spoke to him on the phone today about doing a stoker. Brain sounds very knowable and was telling me how a stock oil pan isn't good for a stoker since the windage from the crank is too close and it should have a modified pan or a street strip pan. He also mods the oil pump and pickup and main cap.

Prices aren't cheap but  cheaper than M.M.  He just might be getting the job, plus he will install a new Comp Cam and degree it and install the pan and my timing case cover and water pump and ship it for around $150 to $180. Then I just need to install my heads and intake and little stuff.

HMMM, went on Summit looking for oil pans. For the stock replacement pans Milodon is showing stock stroke but for the 360 street strip pans its showing max 4 inch stroke!

Now I am sure the other pans may clear the crank but Brain was saying the oil widage is a heavy drag on the 4 inch crank with a stock pan.

Its like he tells you want you should know, not just trys to sell you a motor.

True, true. Sometimes people can change their minds once they hear all facts / costs involved. Brain doesn't seem like that.

We started off last night talking about doing a 318 block with a 4 inch bore like a stock 360 and was saying every block is sonic tested to make sure a min of .120 thickness is there but I was like what is stronger. A 318 bored .090 or a 360 bored .030. He went well if your going to beat on it then the 360 is a bit stronger. (what I thought)

Talk about water pumps, he goes just buy any aluminum one at your local parts store. Don't under drive it.  I explain how I was having a problem with my power steering belt at 6,500+ rpms staying on and went with a under pulley. Goes well then get the Mopar 8 blade pump--no talk how the belt should stay on..my pulleys are a bit uneven but it was easier to switch to the under drive pulley.

Was on the phone for over 12 mins. M.M. was quickly quick with me and the longest I was on was like 5 mins and that included a sales pitch talk.

I know Brian and have a lot of respect for him. I disagree on the tray and pan bit in regard to street engines tho. I routinely use stock pans and trays, and regardless of the pan or pickup the pump and main stud and nut need modifying to fit and use the stud in that position. They lasy fine and there is no noticed loss in power. You, however, are going to race it. So you will need a good pan plus some other oil system work, and I would be looking at something like a Canton or similar aftermarket pan and crank scarper. You also might want to look at an Accusump system. Milodon makes some special pans but nothing worth while for a road course Mopar. I am not sure how well the Kevco welded steel pan would work for a road course.

You know I went on Manici and Summit web site and priced out gaskets, flex plate, oil pan, pick up, etc...Then I need to rent a hoist and change the oil after break in..

I'm getting up to $4,000 total :-\

I was a happy camper with my 318 until it broke.

Sure the stoker would knock a full second off my et but I wanted to travel-have some fun besides hot rodding this spring-summer.
