Fuel Pump Bolts
« on: October 19, 2009 - 01:53:16 PM »
Hello all!
Could anyone tell me whether the fuel pump on a small block 360 took studs, nuts, and washers or bolts, nuts and washers? and whichever they were could you please tell me the size and length? My engine was apart when I got it. Thanks. Would appreciate your help.  :dunno:

The bolts are 3/8" x 1.5 long , the factory bolts have a integrated washer under the head but it is not a floating washer , it is cast into the head

Unless this is a resto, I'd just head off to the hardware store.  Most will carry "flanged" or "washer head" bolts.  You may have to buy 2" ones and trim.

I tried these bolts and they seem way too long. especially the one closest to the oil stick. As I tightened the bolt i still had a space between the fuel pump and the washer. the bolt did not want to go anymore. Can I ask, Are these bolts fine thread or course thread? Are you sure this length is correct? :1zhelp:

Here's what they look like. They have a small shoulder height on the hexagonal size.
