727 Shift Speed adjustment

Can someone tell me the approximate correct shift speed for 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd?  Also, the correct method of adjustment? thanks    Cuda with a 440.

I'm not sure what the "correct" shift rpm is, but you can adjust it by changing the weights in the governor. Heavier weights = later shifts(higher rpm).

Depending on the Kick-down linkage type you have either more forward or back will raise and lower part throttle shift points.

Factory speeds will depend on tire size and rear gear ratio.

It's tough to answer this really. Mine can shift from 2nd to third at 1500RPM if I am going easy, or 2500-3000RPM if I am getting on it a bit. As Tom mentioned, moving the linkage will make a difference...Just 1/8th of an inch either way cam mean a lot.

if you have 3 link linkgae (not a single rod carb-tranny) remember that making adjustments on only 1 section ma have different result than adjusting both of them! first adjust both arms according to FSM, otherways you may have good shift points but lack enough travel for full throttle.
