Door Hinge ?
« on: October 28, 2009 - 08:46:20 PM »
Ok ?s

Has anyone replaced the "S" hook on a hinge before?  I have looked but can not find any info about replacing one. :clueless:

I need some quidance before I try it this weekend.  :grinyes:

Do you need to remove the hinge to replace the hook?r can it be done with the hinge on the car?

Any tricks, i should know about?

Thanks.

should work, but might need some Mc.gyver-ing...  you need to "over-tension" and push up the spring in order to get it out of its position.

It's easy.  Use a long screwdriver to open the end of the spring away from where it locates to the hinge and then gently tap the spring vertically with a hammer.

Best to wear goggles just in case the spring fractures - I once had one do that when I was putting it on.

Thanks Guys.  I will be doing it this weekend.  I am glad to know it can be done without removing the hinge.

I got it in today....the "s" bar that is.  It went in pretty easy, and now the door works like it should.  :2thumbs:
