How do I remove the steering box?

I  When I re-install it, is it position sensitive???

Yes it is, it can only go on one way.  There is a missing spline.

I look for the "fat spline" and line up the missing spline on the arm. Should be able to get it on enough and use the nut without the washer to drive it up higher--then take the nut off and put the washer on and then the nut and toque it good and hard...there is no cotter pin so get it tight!
