« on: November 02, 2009 - 12:08:26 PM »
I can get a deal on a new cast eagle stroker crank and wondering if it is a decent piece or is there a better /preferred one?

Depends on the application. For a crusier, yes. For a street strip car, yes, if properly prepped, for all out race, maybe not. For blown or turbo applications, no.

FWIW, my stock 360 cast crank has been shot peened, had the journals radiused, and been balanced. It lived for 12 years as a race crank at 6500 rpm, with occasional vists to 8000. It has since been retired to street duty.

New cast cranks are good for cruising engines, not for 500hp strip engines.

IMO stock 360 cast crank is a lot stronger than any new sb cast crank. I had one of these in my +500hp blower engine.

I also run the Eagle cast stroker crank.  Since it is good to at least 500HP and a lot of people say the stock blocks aren't safe much past that, I didn't see any sense going with forged.  If I ever get a R3 block (one day...), then you bet I'll be going forged.

They are fine for 500hp. With good machining and prep they will go more. A good deal really.
