How do you test a NSS switch?
« on: November 13, 2009 - 10:52:02 PM »
How do you test a neutral safety switch with the trans out of the car. I thought you should have continuity between the two outer pins when the trans is in park or neutral, but I've checked 3 different switches and I'm just getting OL regardless of what gear the trans is in. Am I missing something here? :dunno:

I thought it was the center pin was to ground (or the threads of the switch) and the outer two were connected for reverse lights. But it's been awhile... :eek4:

The centre pin is ground and it only grounds the cct when you are in park or neutral. The outer two pins will only show continuity when the tranny is in reverse. The switch (centre pin) grounds through the tranny not the body of the switch.

the 2 outer pins are the reverse light , the early valve body pre 67 will not operate the later switch properly
