HELP MEEE!! Fluid Q.
« on: August 31, 2004 - 08:41:25 AM »
Tomorrow I will be changing the filter in my Torqueflite as it is badly in need of being changed.  How much tranny fluid do I need to properly fill a 727?  Is there a particular brand or type one might recommend??

I want to pick it up this afternoon so any quick replies would be GREATLY appreciated.

thnx!

Actually, if all you are doing is dropping the pan, it will only lose a couple of quarts. The good old Dextron 2 stuff is what I have in mine.

if there is a drain plug on the torque converter pull it too , I would grab a gallon to do a fiter change & 2 gallons if you drain the converter , be careful refilling it , it has to be idling in neutral to get a proper reading & it is easier to add fuild so go slow
Dexron 3 is the fluid you need use a good quality fluid it is usually in there for a long time

well, I went at lunch and picked up 6 litres of Mr. transmission Dextron III.  I am taking it to a garage tomorrow to have them drop the pan, swap the filter and the gasket, and top'r up.  When I went yesterday, they were working on a nice classic Rustang, so SOMEBODY trusts them with his iron.  Unfortunately I don't have the money (or a lift to do the work myself) for a full flush, right now.  I'll only have the car out for another month or 2, and only a weekend runner at that, so I'll prob. be saving my pennies for the spring, for some body work, and do the full Tranny flush then.  Thanks for getting back to me so soon, guys.  Appreciate the help.
