Standard to Rallye cluster conversion
« on: December 21, 2006 - 09:14:20 AM »
Hey Gang...

I have a friend who's starting the project of cloning out his 318 ragtop Chally into a clone 440 R/T.. I was curious, since I'm not the E-body guy like you dudes, what's involved in the conversion of his standard cluster to a Rallye cluster?

Thanks and Merry Christmas..

Well of course you need the rallye gauges with the switch panel, becuase the switch panels themselves are different. You will also need the rallye gauge heater control panel, because that too is different. The above gauge light panels are different, there are four lights instead of 3 on the rallye gauges, this you can choose whether or not you want to change it. As far as the wiring harness goes you can use the standard rallye gauge harness, but you will have to add a wire for the tach, lengthen a couple of other wires and change the wire for the oil pressure from going to an idiot light to plugging into a gauge. I think that is all I did when I converted mine. As a precaution check the amp gauge, they are prone to going bad and then frying the harness. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I would say 72 hemi has it covered.  Give me a call if you need help when you get into it.  I have a couple out with the factory harness attached and can see what goes where.

Just to add my 2 pennies here. You will need to change your oil pressure sending unit from one with the idiot light, to one the for the Rally gauges. You also need to plumb in power for the tach. The radio, or any power source that turns off with the ignition switch will work. You will need to find a constant power source for the clock.
