4.75' bolt pattern rally wheels?
« on: December 01, 2009 - 12:18:14 PM »
Ok I have a stupid/newb quesiton.

I bought a parts/project 1970 cuda that had aftermarket wheels on it.  However, they  guy gave me two rally wheels he had laying next to the car that I presumed where from the cuda.  However, they have a 4 and 3 quarter bolt pattern which doesn't fit the lugs on the cuda.

I'm just curious where they used 4.5' vs. 4.75' wheels on e-bods.

thanks!

Smaller bolt pattern wheels were used on A-bodies up until the mid 70's.  I'm not sure what year exactly they changed to the big bolt pattern.  I think the smaller pattern Rallye wheels are worth some good money though.

5x4.5 bolt pattern is standard Mopar/Ford for that period.  5x4.75 would be a Chevy bolt pattern.

Smaller bolt pattern is 4 inch, 4 3/4 is the GM pattern. In 1973 Chrysler switched the A-bodies over to the larger 4 1/2 inch pattern.

Well, I'm no genius ,but I could swear they were dead ringers for Mopar rally wheels.  Sadly, they're out at my sister's farm now.  I'll have to grab one and take a pic some time.  maybe I'll ressurect my post then.  cuz I'm pesky like that  :naughty:

Assuming they are Mopar rally rims, have you tried them on your Cuda?

Maybe it's the way you are measuring the bolt pattern, should be middle of one stud to across the the furthest outer edge of the opposite stud for a 5 bolt pattern.  :2cents:

I'm measuring them correctly - I double checked on the internet to be sure :)

I have sort of tried them on the car... I pulled the wheels off my 62 t-bird and put them on the cuda for moving it around since the rally wheels didn't have tires on them.  The t-bird wheels fit, with 4.5' bolt pattern.  Transitive property and all that :-) :lol2:
