70 sportmirror disassembly
« on: December 06, 2009 - 10:45:10 AM »
I want to rechrome my sidemirror. It`s remote controll ,and on both ends the controlwires are clamped in potmetal pieces.   looks like I have to bend those pieces if I want the mirrorbody off the cables...  :scared:
any other suggestions?

I tired to unbend them from the adjustment knob side, but I didn't have any luck. I used a Dremel tool after that with success.

ok,
how did things go when you put it back together?  was the material tough enough to clamp the cables again?

Yes, it was. No problem there, but the adjustment knob didn't work as well as when new.   :screwy:

I'm not sure why it didn't work like before. It was like the range of motion wasn't quite the same. Of course the reason for this might be the fact that I was the doctor doing the operation.    :bricks1:

well I`ll just give it a shot and see what happens.  I only have to adjust the mirror once... I stopped growing years ago...     thanks for the info  :2thumbs:
