I contacted the owner of the white 'Cuda and here is his story:

Hi James
I think I have a few more somewhere will do some looking and let you know. This happened in 77 on I-94 east bound by Sawyer Michigan on a very wet rainly day. I had bought the car a few weeks before and had the front end worked on, the cause of the accident was due to a steering bolt working itself loose and dropping off due to the lock pin being left off. I would have not had any damage had it happened just 15 feet later, caught the guard rail at about 45 degrees. tweeked the frame and pushed the rear end forward and cracked the tranny and pushed it into the engine. Then olny thing worth saving was the carb and 2 wheels. Didn't even know about the thread, kind of fun to read.
Thanks.

Bill
