72-74 Challenger wanted (junker)
« on: May 25, 2011 - 10:17:44 AM »
I am looking for a 72-74 challenger to use as a reference car. My car was taken apart so many years ago and may finally be ready for reassembly later this summer and I know I have lost or misplaced many parts or nuts and bolts. I had one about a year ago that i parted and now regret it as it was a perfect complete car with a bad frame ( many people on here bought some of those parts ). So I am looking for a complete car that is not worth saving, doesn't need to have a motor, trans, or even susp for that matter. I am located in NY, willing to travel, just depends how far, Thanks. Chris.

The very first thing you need to do is go buy an ICCA Fastener Guide.  It will run you around $100 with the shipping.  That guide will be invaluable if you don't have detailed pictures of how the car came apart.

Buying that guide was the best thing I ever did.  When I took my car apart in the mid/late 90's, I just threw everything in big tubs.  I was able to go through the huge pile of fasteners and find where most everything went.  There are a few 72-74 specific things that aren't in the guide but I found answers to those questions on sites like this.

Using a parts car for a guide is a good idea.  Before the internet, that's the only way you could put one back together.  Now there is a lot of info at your fingure tips.  Buy the fastener guide and look through it.  You may find that you don't need to spend the money on a parts car.

Feel free to ask me(and other members) all the questions you want.  Like I said, I just went through every single nut/bolt on my car so it's pretty fresh in my memory.  Good Luck!!!
