Carb needed for 340 .... Intake ..... Recommendations?
« on: December 02, 2009 - 11:08:31 PM »
My brother just purchased a 66 Cuda with a 69 340 engine.   The intake needs to be replaceed with a Dual Plane like a LD340 or M1 Mopar .... and .... a decent street use Carter AVS.   Anyone out there got a a real clean .... no fuss one for sale?   Carb and intake or either?   If so, please send pics and price.

If anyone has been down this route and would like to advise what combo works best for street use, please do tell.  It's an automatic trans car.

Cheers .... CHAPS

Do you know the details of the engine? Compression, camshaft, heads, etc. I just put together a 70 340 with 10.5 compression, x heads, a nice hydraulic cam and I am running an Edelbrock performer rpm intake and an edelbrock 750 with electric choke and the car absolutely screems. I have an auto trans with a 2000 rpm stall and 3.23 gears. Hope this helps.

Don't have any details on the engine.  It was purchased from a middle party as the original owner passed away.   Engine runs very smooth and has lots of get up and go, but is running extremely rich and is equiped with a mid 80's thermoquad (?).    I am trying to help him find the best street use carb and intake without going nuts on price (ie. limited budget).

Thanks .... Gary

If you've got a spread bore intake it is a very good design .... Try adjusting the metering rods...or could be floats... I've ran an 80's TQ & they don't normally run rich, if anything lean.
