Install before or after final paint
« on: December 14, 2009 - 05:24:13 PM »
Ok, need a little feedback as to the best method. I was considering painting the inside of my doors, door hinge area, underthe hood, under the trunk lid, and hinge parts etc, with PPG's single stage paint.  I have already painted the interior, trunk area, engine bay, and door jambs. Then install and align everything. Then finally work on the exterior primer and paint. I would be using base/clear on exterior.
Or should i paint evrything in base/clear and then install.    :feedback:

If you are going to do it, may as well base/clear everything. Then put it back together. This way you know your paint will all match up very well.  :2cents:

Single stage PPG is being used on my Challenger for trim-out. Then install/alignment of hood, trunk, doors, valences, etc., followed by primer, surface prep, and bc/cc. My car will be a driver and i'm very satisfied at how the single stage items and areas have turned out so far. :) :2cents:
