upper ball joint question

hi, when screwing the upper ball joint down in the control arm ,should the ball joint be screwed all the way down or should some of the ball joint threads still be showing,thanks

I believe there is a torque spec. for that, mine seated flush if I remember correctly.

  I have seen where some jackass mechanic crossed threaded the ball joint, stripped the wishbone and then tack welded the joint in.   :faint:

I also have come across the tack weld on the ball joint. My father inlaw said that GM used to do that,and mabe the guy who worked on the car before me was a GM guy?
Or mabe he was a jackass?

nothing wrong with welding if they wont tighten down.

Ive seen a few welded ones at the yard over the years too! Not on anything recently tho....
