383 build

Well, I got my 383 back from the motor shop, new Diamond pistons, cam 284/296, Lift .507/.510, so now I need a oil pump and pan. Reading about this is confusing  to me, any help will be appreciated. Is this true?

"If you are useing an HV pump. It will have a tendency to suck the pan dry depending on all the clearance issues in your engine build. High rpm's and a stock pump with the engine all in spec makes for good flow"

Is the 402 pan the one I want with windage tray?
Stroke is stock
.
Going with Edelbrock heads and getting them cut to 80cc this should give me about 10.2:1

So after more research is the 402 pan what I need, anyone?

Bart, get the 6 pack/  hemi pan and the 3/8ths pickup tube.   You do not want to use the 402 4 qt pan, it will not be enough with the hv pump

the big blocks have no real oiling problems as long as the pan has oil in it , I would use the Hemi 6 qt oil pan & tube from Mancinis & the HP melling oil pump not the HV pump
 with the heat loss to the alum heads you will have an effective 9.2:1 compression ratio so it should run on reg fuel

Thanks but why do I want the HP pump vs the HV, I put the Hemi cam in which has a smaller oiling hole which should be more presure on the top end.

Also what about a windage tray, Yes/No?

 I figure with 4.310 bore stock stroke 3.375, 80cc (head cut down) and 0 deck should be about 10:1.

the HP pressure pump will increase the pressure but not move 30% more volume , this will prtect the engine without sucking the oil pan dry & starving the brgs ,
 Windage tray definatly yes
